Yoga

My aim is for students to feel empowered and strong in absolutely every sense of the words. You'll find my classes sensitively balance both technique and creativity so that my students come away feeling like they’ve really learnt something, but also at the same time having the opportunity to just get lost in the practice too.

I take inspiration for my teachings through various different movement modalities such as dance and the fitness world, not just yoga. My classes are known for clarity and precision, anatomically informed teaching, good music, heart-felt philosophy, no dogma, a little sweat, a lot of warmth. The trust and commitment people have invested in my teachings and trainings over the years is a privilege and it is a seat that I don’t take lightly.

I teach vinyasa, myofascial release, pregnancy and post natal yoga, and PT on a one to one basis,

About.

I have been teaching for seven years, six of which in Glasgow before now locating, teaching, and living in Dubai. While I love yoga, I also just love simple, intelligent movement and functional training too.

I am originally from Oxfordshire but before moving into full time yoga teaching and to Glasgow I worked for London’s Air Ambulance for several years delivering its PR and Public Affairs. My varied personal and professional paths have, and continue, to influence my work now. In my spare time I move, cook, DJ, and rest.

I have over 900 hours of completed movement training and over 3000 hours of teaching experience. My main teachers are Jason Crandell (vinyasa method) and Bridget Woods Kramer (anusara method), both I feel very grateful to have learned extensively from. I teach retreats locally and abroad and continue to lead regular workshops and teacher trainings orientated to both students and/or teachers of this practice. My style is inclusive, thoughtful, anatomically informed, and non-dogmatic. While I take yoga and its tradition seriously, I take myself lightly and I am equally passionate about continuing to make yoga modern and relevant.

Testimonials.

“Alice you may not remember me but I used to go to your classes. Your friend introduced me to yoga a few years ago when I was going through a very tough break up and a pretty low time. Looking back, I realise your classes were one of the most important things for me during that time to move forwards. I suppose I just want to thank you. I am now living in Australia, but I still think of your classes and how you brought something so special and without knowing really really helped me.” Gillian

“I have progressed so much more than I ever thought possible from your guidance and I have been doing yoga for decades, my body and I thank you.” Laura Edwards

“Alice advanced my practice and increased my fitness even on a dodgy zoom connection during a global pandemic” Sara Pascoe

“I loved learning with Alice. She is incredible at giving advice on her teachings and is clear and direct as well as light hearted and extremely passionate. The content was thoroughly thought through and I left with a barrel of knowledge I can keep coming back to time and time again. As a brand new teacher, she made me feel very valued and I walked away more confident that even though I'm new to teaching yoga, I have lots to give. Thank you so much Alice.” Emily Sunman

“I would highly recommend Alice to anybody, I have been doing regular classes with her for a fair while now and Alice has helped me feel flexible and stronger. She has helped me build the body that I have today, which, you could make of that what you will.” Frankie Boyle

"I cant' recommend Alice and her classes and courses course enough! Alice has a wealth of knowledge, insights and tools that you can really take away and use as a yoga teacher. Content is relevant and incredibly useful and it was delivered in such a fun and inspiring way! I really enjoyed my time on this course." Tamara Goldie

“Alice you my have no idea how much and I and no doubt all of us in the class, appreciate you, your teachings and beautiful personality. Thank you so much for getting me out of my low vibrational state back into high vibe state. You are an amazing teacher, supper knowledgeable, also cool as fuck. Thank you.” Karen Idun

“Alice's 200HR YTT course has been transformative. Her depth of knowledge, communication style, and supportive approach throughout the training has given me a much deeper understanding of yoga, both on and off the mat. The training was challenging, intense, meaningful, but most importantly so, so joyous and I am so proud to have completed the course with Alice.” Yvonne Halliday

Pregnancy & Post Natal

Pre natal classes

I currently offer pre natal private yoga classes both online and in person for anyone past their first trimester.

My yoga sessions is for both expectant pregnant people with no experience of yoga, and pregnant yogis wanting to modify their practice and allow for the changes occurring in their body. We will focus on empowerment and everything that you can do, connection to yourself and your baby, while working closely with your energy and emotional state.

Expect movement, strength, and stability work so you can feel strong and confident, along with meditation, relaxation, and optimal breath awareness. Whether you are looking to support a more comfortable pregnancy, hoping to prepare for and improve labour, or keep moving and strengthening through your term, you are welcome here.

Post Natal Classes

Post natal yoga is a great way to get back into movement after giving birth — it will help to rejuvenate your energy, release tension and the stress of daily parenting, and bring awareness back to your core and pelvic floor. The class will typically include a yoga practice to open and strengthen your body, guided relaxation, and an opportunity to connect with other new parents. The class is open to you six weeks post birth (or until ‘signed off’ by your GP). Babies of course welcome,

Get in touch should you wish to book an online or in person 1-2-1 with me: alicegray.yoga@gmail.com.

1-2-1.

I offer block bookings of 1-2-1 bespoke private yoga classes which can be offered either in your home, online, or in a studio setting. Private tuition is great for checking in with alignment and understanding of poses so that you can get more from public classes, strengthening/opening a particular area of your body, troubleshoot reoccurring problems or explore injury management, or simply have a class in your home.
